The first meeting of the Belarusian-Georgian business council took place in Tbilisi within the frames of the work of the National exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in Georgia.

The Deputy prime minister of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi, the Deputy prime minister – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dmitry Kumsishvili, the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Georgia Mikhail Myatlikov, the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Georgia in the Republic of Belarus David Kotariya, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia Nino Chikovani, the vice-chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vyacheslav Bril, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Ogorodnikov, the heads of the Belarusian and Georgian companies participated in the meeting of Business council.

During the meeting the possibilities of deepening of economic cooperation between Belarus and Georgia, the development of bilateral trade and economic activities, practical questions of the organization of deliveries to Georgia of agricultural machinery of the Belarusian production are considered. The tourist opportunities of two countries are provided.

Within the meeting six bilateral documents, including the agreement on cooperation between the Gomel branch of BelCCI and the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumsky, Kvemo-Svanetsky and Gurian regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia were signed.

At the end of the meeting bilateral negotiations of the representatives of business of two countries, including within exhibition stands of the National exhibition of the Republic of Belarus took place. The representatives of more than 80 Belarusian and 100 Georgian companies took part in the negotiations. Businessmen discussed possibilities of cooperation and implementation of joint projects in spheres of mechanical engineering, agricultural industry, food industry, pharmaceutics, woodworking, petrochemistry, light industry and others.

The Agreement on creation of the Belarusian-Georgian Business council was signed on March 22, 2016.

The main responsibilities of Business council are the activization of bilateral foreign economic relations, strengthening and deepening of cooperation between the companies of Belarus and Georgia in the field of trade and investments, encouragement of direct contacts and direct exchange of information between the representatives of business community of two countries, identification and overcoming barriers on the way of expansion of a bilateral trade and economic cooperation by maintenance of stable dialogue with competent authorities of both countries, and also the development of recommendations about improvement of conditions for business activity.
